The Salem City Council has approved a $7,256 contract with Serve Pro to remove mold from the walls of the Salem Animal Control facility.

City Manager Rex Barbee expects the work to begin within the next two weeks.

“I think it’s a good time to get that remediation done.  We are actually at a low population on animals at this point in time.  And it may be that the bill will go up if we require to have some additional materials in place but we may be able to save some funds by having volunteers or possibly some Public Works individuals helping remove some of the paneling.”

Barbee anticipates the replacement of any paneling will cost no more than $2,500. He will bring the matter back before the city council if the cost runs any higher.
