A resident of Country Club Estates came before the Salem City Council Monday night seeking the city’s help in eliminating a drainage issue that allows stagnant water and mud to fill the street in front of his home.

John Consolino feels the mud is not only unsightly but unsafe.

“When it does dry I’m able to remove it.  Sometimes I’m forced to remove it when it’s not dry because it molds and becomes stagnant and that is definitely a problem.  When you are trying to walk off the end of the drive or kids trying to ride their bikes off the end of the drive, or even pulling in and I know cars aren’t a big deal but when you are tracking mud all over the place it really is becoming a bigger problem.”

Consolino is hoping for some type of temporary solution until the lack of storm drains in the subdivision can be addressed.

Public Works Director John Pruden was away from the council meeting, but Mayor Pro-Tem Nic Farley promised he would address the issue upon his return.
