Regions of Illinois successfully containing the virus may be able to ease up on COVID-19 restrictions starting Friday.

The entire state has been under Tier 3 mitigations since late November, but that could change if test positivity and hospitalization rates continue to decline.  Governor JB Pritzker says certain rules could be lifted on the 15th in areas with low numbers but reminds everyone we must all stay the course.

“If we maintain adherence to mask wearing and social distancing and make sure to get vaccinated when it’s your time, then we will experience a robust recovery that I know we will look forward too.”

The Governor says the data will drive decisions about which tier or phase of the ‘Restore Illinois’ plan a particular region will fall under.
