Centralia’s first combination Assistant City Manager/Economic Development Director has resigned.
City Manager Lowell Crow confirmed Tuesday morning that Kathleen ‘Katie’ Plutz’s last day on the job was Monday. She had earlier given notice.
Plutz joined the city on August 19th following a nationwide search for candidates. She had been working for two years with Invest Aurora in the Chicago area prior to taking the Centralia job.
Crow said Plutz gave no reason for her resignation but indicated she wanted to return to more of an economic development job and away from being assistant city manager.
Crow plans to keep the combined position intact. He says ads are being placed in municipal trade publications at both the national and state level as well as locally. Applications will be accepted for the next few weeks.
