The Marion County Health Department reported 80 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend and Monday.   There were no additional deaths, with the number of deaths during the pandemic currently at 104.

Of the 80 new cases, eight are students.  However, none were at school during their infectious period.  The department found 65 of the cases to be from community spread and 15 from household or close contacts.

There are now 397 active cases, including 19 who are in the hospital.  Four of those are on ventilators.  There are 3,069 who are listed as recovered, with no additional cases released from isolation during the past three days.

The Clinton County Health Department is reporting 59 new cases.  336 are currently on home isolation and 12 are hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Health Department reports their death toll has increased to 71 with the death of a male and female in their 70s.   The department is reporting 103 new cases over the past three days, including 52 at the Big Muddy Prison.   267 of those who tested positive are currently in isolation.

The Washington County Health Department has reported 22 new positive cases over the past three days.   There are now 92 active cases and nine who are hospitalized.

The Fayette County Health Department is reporting 23 new positive cases.

Statewide, there were 4,776 new cases of coronavirus disease reported on Monday along with 53 additional deaths.  None of the deaths were in Southern Illinois.

The statewide positivity rate fell to 7.6-percent for the past seven days.   The Southern Illinois Region positivity rate is at 9.9-percent.  Marion County’s rate fell to 7.4-percent.   The Metro-East region is at 11.9-percent.  The East Central Illinois region’s positivity rate for the seven day period is 9.4-percent.
