Fire caused considerable damage to the living room and dining room of a Wamac home Sunday morning.

Assistant Centralia Fire Protection District Chief Ross Boshera says the fire was at the Tammie Elliston home at 307 West 16th Street.    The residents first smelled smoke and thought they saw fire in a wall as they were calling the fire department.

Boshera says the fire apparently started in the area above the ceiling and eventually began coming down a wall when it was discovered.   The ceiling of the dining and living room had to be pulled down to reach the fire.   The damage was limited to the rest of the living area of the single-story home.

All those in the home got out safely and there were no injuries in fighting the fire.  Lifestar Ambulance and Wamac Police stood by at the fire in the event of any problems.

The fire call came in at 10:10 Sunday morning.   Firemen cleared the scene about two hours later.
