The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting 4,711 new cases of coronavirus disease on Sunday. Another 81 deaths are also being reported, bringing the death toll since the start of the pandemic to 17,574. None of the deaths were in South Central Illinois. there were four deaths reported in Madison County and one apiece in St. Clair and Franklin Counties.
The statewide positivity rate for the past week fell to 7.9-percent. The positivity rate for the Southern Illinois Region fell under double digits and is now at 9.6-percent. Marion County’s rate fell to 7.5-percent. The Metro-East Region is at a positivity rate of 12.6-percent. The East Central Illinois Region is at 9.9-percent.
