The Illinois Department of Public Health on Saturday reported 101 additional COVID-19 related deaths including one apiece in Jefferson and Marion Counties. The death in Marion County was a female in her 70s and in Jefferson County a male in his 70s passed away.
The Metro East was hit with eight deaths, five in St. Clair County and three in Madison County. Other Southern Illinois deaths included one apiece in Bond, Effingham, and Perry Counties. Two deaths were reported in Randolph County.
A total of 6,717 new cases were reported. The positivity rate for the last seven days fell to 8.3-percent. The Southern Illinois Region positivity rate fell to 10.5-percent. Marion County’s rate jumped to 12.1-percent. The Metro East rate is at 13-percent. The East Central Illinois Region has a positivity rate of 6.5-percent.
IDPH reported a total of 3,589 hospitalized statewide from COVID-19 related causes. 742 were in the ICU with 393 patients on ventilators.
