A 21-year-old rural Salem man has been formally charged in Marion County Court with criminal sexual abuse, unlawful use of a weapon, and possession of meth following a weekend traffic stop.

Hayden Wimberly had bond set at $10,000 during his first appearance in Marion County Court on Monday.

He’s accused in the criminal sexual abuse count of having sexual contact with an underage juvenile who because of her age was unable to give consent.   That incident had been under investigation by Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies before the Saturday night traffic stop on the Selmaville Road north of Red Stripe Road.

Wimberly is also accused of being in possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine and unlawful use of a weapon for having possession of an uncased and loaded gun in the vehicle.

The stop had originally occurred because the car Wimberly was driving had been reported stolen from a relative.  However, no charge was filed in connection with that portion of the incident.
