Centralia Grade School Superintendent Craig Clark says Schiller Grade School will be switching to full remote learning for their first week of school back from the holiday break January 4th through the 8th.
Clark says this is due to faculty, staff, and student positives and close contacts. The students are tentatively set to return to in-person learning on Monday, January 11th. The decision to go full remote only affects Schiller School and none of the other Centralia City Grade School buildings.
Clark reports the district has seen a number of teachers and support personnel become positive over the last week. They have also had parents report students as positive. Clark says they are voluntarily switching to remote learning due to the lack of available personnel.
Clark adds they appreciate faculty, staff, and parents who continue to follow the procedures of reporting even through the Christmas break. He says that has helped them monitor the district and make important decisions. Clark says they will continue to work closely with the local health departments and follow IDPH and CDC guidelines.
Clark adds as always, everyone should monitor their health and stay at home if they develop symptoms. Sick persons should contact their health care provider to determine if testing is needed. Anyone who develops severe symptoms should seek medical care immediately. If your child has had close contact with a known case of COVID-19, keep the child at home and notify your primary healthcare provider, your school or daycare, and your local health department.
