A 23-year-old Centralia man has been formally charged in Marion County Court with resisting arrest and possession of a hypodermic syringe in the aftermath of a series of events in Centralia on Wednesday.
Police say Jacob White of East 7th ran from an officer when being arrested after allegedly having possession of a stolen bike in the 500 block of South Poplar. In the process of fleeing, White allegedly dropped a backpack that allegedly contained a white crystal substance, a hypodermic syringe with a liquid inside, more than 30 grams of what is believed to be a look-alike drug, and a number of burglary tools including bolt cutters and screwdrivers. He was quickly apprehended.
Bond was set at $5,000 and the public defender appointed to represent him during his first court appearance on Thursday. If released on bond, White was ordered to have no drugs or alcohol.
