Three people stopped in a vehicle when allegedly leaving the scene of a burglary that was broken up in progress were formally charged in Marion County Court on Monday.

39-year-old Christopher Brown of 4th Street in Xenia, 31-year-old Cory Jones of Kinlou Road in Kinmundy, and 39-year-old Melissa Schnepper of West 6th in Flora were all charged with burglary.   In addition, Schnepper faces additional charges of possession of meth and possession of contraband in a penal institution.

The three fled a home on the Route 161 Extension after they were allegedly found inside the home that had been ransacked and several items were stolen.   A dispatch to Clay and Wayne Counties led to Xenia Police spotting the vehicle on Old U.S. 50 between Xenia and Flora.   They stopped the car without incident.   Clay and Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies later arrived to assist with the arrest and transporting the three to the Marion County Jail.
