Two Olney women who were standing on the patio of an Olney bar were struck and killed by a pickup truck allegedly driven by a drunk driver.
State Police say the incident occurred Saturday night when the pickup truck ran off westbound West North Avenue into the outdoor patio portion of the Deuce’s Wild Saloon.
The two women who were struck and killed are identified as DeAnn C. Richardson and Judy L. Jourdan. They were pronounced dead on the scene by the Richland County Coroner’s office.
The pickup truck driver, 60-year-old Michael Mattox of Dundas, was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. He was arrested for aggravated driving under the influence, no valid license, and improper lane usage.
The incident remains under investigation by the Olney Police Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Department and Illinois State Police with assistance from the Richland County State’s Attorney’s office.
The crash occurred at 7:49 Saturday night.
