Newly sworn-in Central City Police Department members (left to right) new Sergeant John Hinkel, new Chief Nick Heath, and new Patrolman Todd Williams.
The Central City Police Department has reorganized with the decision of Chief Jim Maloy to become the Central City Grade School’s school resource officer.
Maloy has been replaced as chief by Sergeant Nicholas Heath who was sworn into the new position at this week’s village board meeting. Heath first joined the department in 2009 and went full-time in 2013. Officer John Hinkel was promoted and sworn in as the new Police Sergeant. A Wamac Police officer, Todd Williams, has sworn in as a new full-time officer. Josh Patton also remains on the department as a full-time officer.
Malloy had served as chief for the past seven years before segueing to the School Resource Officer position.
Heath says he is settling into the new job and is planning no major changes.
