Two arrested in connection with separate vehicle thefts

Area police departments made arrests in connection with two vehicle thefts on Saturday.

Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies recovered a dump truck stolen from the City of Trenton even before the city knew it was missing. The truck driven by 29-year-old Corey Darling was initially stopped in the 7500 block of US 50 in Iuka for speeding at 6:22 Saturday night. When the truck was discovered to be stolen, Darling was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle as well as traffic tickets for speeding and no driver’s license. Darling told jail officials he was homeless.

Centralia Police arrested 36-year-old Demetrius Randal of East St. Louis for felony theft on Saturday after he was allegedly found in possession of a vehicle stolen from St. Louis. St. Louis Police had asked Centralia Police to check for the car in the 700 block of North Lincoln where On star said the vehicle was located. The car was found along with Randal who allegedly had possession of the keys. He was taken to the Marion County Jail.
