The Sandoval Village Board has named one of its board members as Part-Time Village Administrator beginning January 1st.
Lee Ann Speiser will resign her board post on the same date. As a board member, she has already been instrumental in putting together grant requests that have led to a major overhaul of the village park and helping to construct a new water tower.
“I’m excited about the challenge because I feel like I have a lot of innovative ideas that haven’t been possible just being a Board Trustee and I think there are a lot of things that could benefit the community. We want to do a comprehensive plan for the village, do some feasibility studies for some grants we are interested in applying for, create a village website and just streamline things for each department to help them run smoothly.”
Speiser also wants to work on economic development.
“Our industrial park isn’t utilized to its full potential so we want to see about getting some new businesses into the community.”
Speiser will be over all the departments as part of the position. She will be paid $19,000 a year.
Mayor Pam Gelsinger pushed for the creation of the position to take some of the pressure off the Mayor and Village Board members. She is confident Speiser will build on her accomplishments on behalf of Sandoval.
Gelsinger is now looking for a person to replace Speiser on the village board.
