A 40-year-old rural Salem man has been arrested for theft and aggravated battery for a series of incidents that occurred in Centralia in October.
Centralia Police say Michael Kaminski of Tonti Road allegedly stole clothing from a 29-year-old Centralia man staying at Motel Centralia. As the alleged victim was reaching through the window of Kaminski’s car in an attempt to get the backpacks of his clothing out, Kaminski allegedly began driving off.
The victim allegedly fell from the car onto South Poplar Street. He was able to walk to the nearby Centralia Police Station to report the incident. The victim was then taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment. Kaminiski had not been located by police until a Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy questioned him Tuesday on an unrelated case and held him so he could be questioned about the October incident by Centralia Police.
