The Marion County Health Department is reporting four more COVID-19 related deaths.

Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says three were long term care residents.  Those who passed away were a female in her 60s, two females in their 70s, and a female in her 80s.  All were positive for COVID-19.  There have now been 83 deaths in Marion County.

There were a total of 196 deaths reported by the Illinois Department of Public Health statewide.  They include a female in her 80s from Clay County and a female in her 70s from Wayne County.   There were also 21 other deaths reported in the Metro-East and deep Southern Illinois.  In addition, the Jefferson County Health Department is reporting their 50th death, a male in his 40s.

The Marion County Health Department reported 36 new cases.  They include one long-term care resident and four students including three who were in class during their infectious period.  Contact tracing is underway.   15 of the cases are considered community spread and the other 21 from household or close contacts.

There are now 271 active cases, including 10 who are in the hospital.  Four of those are on ventilators.   There were 142 released from isolation on Thursday, bringing the total number recovered to 2,086.

Clinton County Health Department officials are reporting 45 new cases.  516 are currently on isolation and 17 hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Health Department reported 77 new positive cases.  There are now 347 active cases.

The Washington County Health Department is reporting 32 lab-confirmed cases on Tuesday and Wednesday.  There are now 125 active cases and three who are hospitalized.   49 of the positive cases are from a single outbreak.

The Fayette County Health Department has 72 new cases.  Two congregate facilities are responsible for 50 of the cases.

Clay County is reporting 21 new cases on Wednesday.

The Wayne County Health Department has 21 new lab-confirmed cases.  117 are currently isolating and five are hospitalized.

Statewide, there were 11,101 new cases.  The seven-day state positivity rate has dropped to 9.5-percent.   The Southern Illinois Region positivity rate for the week ending December 7th has dropped to 12.9-percent.  Marion County’s rate fell to 12.3-percent.  The Metro-East Region is at 15.2-percent.   The East Central Illinois Region is at 11.7-percent.
