A 25-year-old Kell man has been arrested by Salem Police on multiple charges after allegedly displaying a gun during a domestic dispute with his girlfriend.

Michael Hill of Third Street is being held in the Marion County Jail for alleged aggravated domestic battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful use of a weapon, armed violence, endangering the life of a child, unlawful restraint, resisting a peace officer, and possession of a firearm without a valid ID card.

Police Chief Sean Reynolds says the department initially responded to a 911 caller at 3:34 Sunday afternoon who gave the address of a home in the 1000 block of West Main and hung up.  Upon arrival, police learned that a gun had been involved in the altercation that was believed to have been left in the home before Hill fled.   It was later determined he had locked himself in a bathroom at the nearby CVS store.   Hill was commanded to come out a short time later and was taken into custody without incident.

During the investigation, the gun was located in the home.  Reynolds says Hill is accused of pointing the gun towards the woman and children in the home.  He also allegedly attempted to impede the woman’s breathing during the incident.

Reynolds says the victim declined hospital treatment.
