Marion County Health Department reports two more deaths, 95 new COVID-19 cases

The Marion County Health Department is reporting two more COVID-19 related deaths and 95 new cases of the disease on Friday.

The deaths were a female in her 70s and another female in her 80s.  One of the deaths was a long term care resident.  The county has now had 66 deaths.

The health department reports 55 of the new cases are community spread and 40 were apparently spread from household or close contacts.   There were no new cases involving long term care residents.  There were 17 cases in students on Friday.   One was not at school during their infectious period.  Two are homeschooled.   Contact tracing is being completed on the 14 other students.   All 95 of the new positive cases are on isolation.

Marion County now has 387 active cases.  13 of those are in the hospital and two of those are on ventilators.  The department reported 40 as recovered on Friday, bringing the total number recovered to 1,802.   There have now been 2,255 positive cases.

Statewide there were 10,526 new cases and 148 additional deaths.  The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting a death of a male in his 70s in Fayette County, a male in his 70s in Washington County, and females in their 60s and 80s in Wayne County.  Two more deaths, a female in their 70s and 80s, were reported in Effingham County.

The Clinton County Health Department is reporting 66 new positive cases.  There are currently 623 on home isolation and 24 who are hospitalized.

In Jefferson County, there are 28 new positive cases and 210 active cases.

Fayette County is reporting 40 new cases.

The Clay County Health Department is reporting 51 new cases on Thursday, with 155 positive cases in isolation.

The Wayne County Health Department has 17 new cases.  136 are currently in isolation and six are hospitalized.

The statewide positivity rate is now 10.3-percent for the week ending December 3rd.  The Southern Illinois Region is at 13-percent positivity.  The Marion County Rate is at 13.9-percent.   The Metro-East Region is at 14.4-percent.  The East Central Illinois Region is at 12.4-percent.
