2021 12/03 – Harrison “Red” Alvin Hughey

Harrison “Red” Alvin Hughey, 84, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 2:13 pm November 30, 2021 at his residence. Red was an avid cardinal fan and was a coach and umpire for over thirty years with IHSA. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

A Visitation will be held Friday, December 3, 2021 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Saint Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 am with Father Nick Junker officiating. Memorials may be made in Red’s honor to SSM Health at Home Hospice of Mount Vernon. Red married his high school sweetheart, Rebecca “Becky” (Riley) Hughey on April 7, 1958 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. In addition to his loving wife of sixty-three years, Red is survived by his sons, Harrison Alvin Hughey III and wife, Rita of Georgetown, Illinois, William “Drew” Andrew Hughey and Shelley of Benton, Illinois, Sean Michael Hughey and wife, Alecia of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughter, Brandi Michele Clanin and husband, Tom; grandchildren, Joshua Hughey of Ashley, Illinois, Jeremy Hughey of Ashley, Illinois, Hazel Hughey of Georgetown, Illinois, Erica Hughey of Georgetown, Illinois, Whitney Montgomery of Benton, Illinois, Paige Hughey-Crabtree of Marion, Illinois, Frank Brandon Hughey of Mount Vernon, Asher Hughey of Springfield, Illinois, Danae Hughey of Ina, Illinois, Dakota Bodine of Springfield, Illinois, Jordan Bodine of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Brady Bodine of Centralia, Logan Bodine of Odin, Illinois, Chance Clanin of Huey, Illinois; seven great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Michael William “Mike” Riley and wife, Ginny; sisters, Ellen Havelka and husband, Milford of Marthasville, Missouri, Mildred Huffer of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Harrison “Red” Alvin Hughey was born August 3, 1937 in Jefferson County, Illinois to the late Harrison Alvin Hughey Sr. and Mildred (Karch) Hughey. In addition to his parents, Red was preceded in death by his son, Heath Anthony Hughey and sister, Thelma Joyce Hughey.
