 The Marion County Health Department reported 62 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.

Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says six of the cases were in long-term care facilities and 12 were students.  Contact tracing is underway on ten of the students.   The other two were not at school during their infectious periods.  The department lists 25 of the cases as community spread and 37 from household or close contacts.

There are now 342 active cases, including 14 in the hospital.  Of those, three are on ventilators.   No cases were cleared on Tuesday.    Marion County has now surpassed the 2,000 mark for positive cases, with 2,081.   Of those 1,679 have recovered.

Clinton County reported 43 new cases.  There are now 680 on home isolation and 15 who are hospitalized.

Jefferson County officials reported 20 new cases.  There are now 205 active cases.

Fayette County health officials report 23 new cases.

Wayne County reported 19 new cases.  108 are currently isolating and five are hospitalized.

Statewide, there were 12,542 new cases or probable cases along with 125 additional deaths.  The report lists the death of a female in her 50s in Clay County and a male in his 90s from Effingham County.

The Statewide positivity rate increased to 10.4-percent.  The Southern Illinois Region saw its seven-day positivity rate for the week ending November 28th increase to 12.7-percent.   While 37-percent of med/surg beds are open in the region, only 15-percent of ICU beds are open.  Marion County’s positivity rate jumped to 13.8-percent.   The Metro East Region saw its positivity rate increase to 14.3-percent.  Both med/surg and ICU beds remain below 20-percent.  In the East Central Illinois Region, the positivity rate is 11.9-percent.  Both med/surg and ICU beds are above 20-percent.
