There will be a five-way race for the two open seats on the Salem City Council in April. Seth Dawson filed his petitions at City Hall on Monday. He will join incumbent Jim Koehler, appointed councilman Jacob Hockett, former City Councilman Royce Bringwald as well as Neal Canon on the ballot.
There will be a two-way race for Mayor of Salem as councilman Nic Farley will take on Brock Waggoner. The winner will replace Sue Morgan who was appointed to fill the term of Rex Barbee after he was appointed City Manager. Morgan did not seek re-election.
In Centralia, no additional candidates filed on the final day of filing. Appointed Mayor Herb Williams will face off against Bryan Kuder who was elected two years ago but never seated after the city council ruled he did not live within the city limits. Kuder continues to battle that decision in court.
There will be five candidates for the two open city council seats. They are Jeffrey Castellari, Jason Hunter, Robert ‘Rob’ Jackson, Israel Fontanez, and Bradley Kent Jones. The two incumbent councilmen, Howard Jones, and Andre Marshall, did not seek re-election.
