A 28-year-old Alma woman has been charged with two counts of reckless homicide in connection with an accident on the north side of Salem that claimed two lives in November of last year.

The charges filed Tuesday in Marion County Court allege that Brandy Smith was operating a car eastbound on the Tonti Road and after stopping at Route 37 didn’t yield the right of way and pulled in front of a car driven by Leo Murphy.   Both Leo Murphy and his wife Virginia both died as a result of the crash.

A third and fourth count of the suit charges Smith with the operation of an uninsured vehicle involving bodily harm.

Smith has been given a notice to appear in court for a first appearance on the charges at ten am on November 18th.
