The Clinton County Health Department reported three more COVID-19 related deaths on Wednesday bringing their total number of deaths to 52. The deaths were males in their 70s and 90s and a female in their 90s. Two were long-term care residents at the same facility and the other had been hospitalized after getting ill at home.
Fayette, Wayne, and Effingham Counties also reported additional deaths. In Fayette County, a male in his 80s passed away, in Wayne County and Effingham Counties males in their 90s passed away.
Marion County had no new deaths but did have 76 new cases. They included 24 from various long term care facilities and four students who are undergoing contact tracing. The health department is labeling 52 of the cases as community spread and the other 24 cases from household or close contacts. Ages of the positives ranged from two boys and a girl under ten to a female in her 90s.
The health department reports there are now 362 active cases of which 16 are in the hospital and of those three are on ventilators. There were no new recoveries on Wednesday, but 1,193 since the pandemic began.
Clinton County had 55 new positives. There are currently 529 on home isolation and eight who are hospitalized.
The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting 29 new positives and 229 active cases currently in isolation. Cases range from a teen to a male in his 90s.
The Washington County Health Department is reporting 30 new lab-confirmed cases Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. They range in age from a female between 11 and 15 to four in their 70s. There are now 81 active cases and two in the hospital.
The Fayette County Health Department has 39 new cases, eight confirmed and 31 probable.
The Clay County Health Department is reporting 19 new cases on Tuesday.
The Wayne County Health Department on Wednesday reported three lab-confirmed and four probable COVID-19 cases.
