Nelsba C. Baker, 82, of Las Vegas, Nevada and formerly of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 10:10 A.M. on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Bluesky Memory Care in Las Vegas, Nevada. Before moving into Bluesky Memory Care, Nelsba was an active member and volunteer at Spring Valley Baptist Church in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was previously a member of Connexion Church and Logan Street Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Nelsba committed her life to living and teaching missions. She saw her time at Bluesky as a continuation of that ministry opportunity as she shared the love of Jesus with the staff, her fellow residents and with their families. Nelsba’s family is extremely grateful for the love and support that was shown to her by the staff during her stay at Bluesky Memory Care.
A private graveside service will be held. Interment will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. Nelsba is survived by her sons Charles Baker and wife Dr. Laura Wolfe of Reddick, Florida, Kenneth Baker and wife Stacy of Peoria, Illinois and Michael Baker and wife Cindy of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren Michael Baker of Champaign, Illinois, Ethan Wolfe-Baker of Reddick, Florida, Andrew Baker of Peoria, Illinois and Audrey Baker of Las Vegas, Nevada; brother Clement Caudill of Printer, Kentucky; sisters Creeda Thomas and Virginia Hogan of Stuart, Florida and Betty Poole and husband Charles of Bellbrook, Ohio; sisters-in-law Elise Caudill of Madison, Mississippi, Orilla Baker of Louisville, Kentucky, Trudy Baker of Lexington, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews also survive.In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death by her husband, Guy, sister and brother-in-law Treeva and Clyde Newman, brother Denver, her in-laws Guy and Emily Anne Baker, brothers-in-law Eugene Dudley Baker, Thomas Baker, Cecil Baker, Wilbur Michael, Bob Hogan, Jim Horner, sisters-in-law Mary Horner, Esther Michael, Elizabeth Caudill and Ellarie Caudill.
Nelsba was born on Friday, November 11, 1938 in Hi Hat, Kentucky the daughter of the late Milford and Nancy (Hurt) Caudill. She married Guy Baker on December 19, 1964 in Hi Hat, Kentucky and he preceded her in death on October 14, 2014.
