Centralia City Grade School goes on full remote for all schools

By News Nov 15, 2020 | 11:15 AM

For the first time, all Centralia City Grade Schools will go on full remote beginning Monday.

Superintendent Craig Clark says students at Schiller, Jordan, Central, and Centralia Junior High are all included.  The tentative return date for in-person learning is Monday, November 30th.

Clark says the district understands in-person learning is the ideal situation for many students, however, they must consider the safety and well-being of students, faculty, and staff.  At this time, they feel the number of positive cases and quarantined individuals has led them to the decision that remote learning will provide the safest option for all.  The situation will continue to be reassessed as the district moves forward and families will be updated if the tentative return date should change.

Clark says all students were sent home with Chromebooks.  He notes it is extremely important that parents/guardians are connected with their child’s teacher through ClassDoJo.  If you are not, you should contact your school to determine the best way to be connected.

Information, tutorials, and other helpful tools will continue to be posted on the district’s website CCS135.com.

Lunches will be made available for pick up at the school of the student or parents choice between ten and 11 am.  Students will be able to pick a lunch when logging on for the day.

Iuka Grade School announced on Friday they would go full remote beginning Monday until November 30th due to rising COVID cases and quarantine numbers.   Salem Grade and Odin School have extended their full remote learning through November 30th.

Centralia High School is scheduled to return to in-person classes on Monday.
