By News Nov 13, 2020 | 8:43 PM

The Centralia Regional Library will close to walk-in foot traffic for the safety of the community and employees starting Monday, November 16, due to rising COVID-19 cases.   Guests who would like to visit the Centralia Regional Library will need to book an appointment via phone. The library will also offer a curbside pickup service and have Wi-Fi access available in Library Park, including the parking lot.

Beginning Monday, November 16, patrons can schedule an appointment to visit the library by calling (618) 532-5222 and pressing 0 for circulation. Each appointment is 20 minutes, except for computer use which is 45 minutes, and guests can use any of the currently offered services, sign up for a library card, learn about digital access to library services, browse for items to check out, and use computers during the visit. Appointments will also be available for tutoring and virtual learning sessions in the library’s activity room. These appointments will be for 45 minutes. Using appointments will help staff monitor the building’s capacity and facilitate social distancing between patrons.

The Centralia Regional Library also offers curbside pickup for those who prefer not to enter the building.  To use the curbside pickup service, guests can place a request for items using the online library catalog or calling (618) 532-5222 and pressing 0 for circulation. Requestors will be notified when their request is ready and an appointment for pick up will be made. More details on curbside pickup procedures are available at www.centralialibrary.org.

The library hours of operation will remain the same: Monday 10 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Thursday 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The library is closed Saturdays and Sundays.

In addition to the changes outlined above, the Centralia Regional Library will continue adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols. This includes requiring guests to wear face coverings, and using sanitizer when entering the building. Guests should maintain distance from others while using library services.

All items being returned should be placed in the outside book return. Returned items are then quarantined 72 hours before being checked in.
