Argument leads to passenger getting foot run over near Sandoval

A 38-year-old Centralia man faces multiple charges after the car he was driving ran over the foot of a passenger forced out during an argument.

State Police say preliminary investigative details indicate Tyrone Etheridge was traveling southbound on US 51 just south of Red Stripe Road when an altercation began between Etheridge and rear-seat passenger 25-year-old Matthew Woods of Centralia.  After forcing Woods from the vehicle, Etheridge reportedly ran over Woods’ left foot.

Woods was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  Etheridge was also transported by ambulance to an area hospital due to injuries sustained in the altercation with Woods.

Etheridge has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injury, driving with an expired driver’s license, and reckless driving.  Additional charges are pending investigation.

The investigation is being led by Illinois State Police in conjunction with the Centralia Police Department.    The crash occurred at 10:35 Friday morning.
