Three sent to prison in Marion County Court

Three people are headed to prison after entering guilty pleas in Marion County Court.

36-year-old Randy Hillis who now resides in Granite City was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of aggravated battery to a handicapped person. Hillis admitted to pulling a person with a physical disability out of a wheelchair and then holding them on the floor. A charge of aggravated domestic battery for allegedly impeding the breathing of the victim was dropped as part of the plea agreement. When getting out of prison, Hillis will have to complete one year of parole and was given credit for 532 days served in jail.

A 28-year-old Sandoval resident has been sentenced to three years in prison for possession of under five grams of methamphetamine. Christine Kniker of Old U.S. 51 will have to complete one year of parole after getting out of prison. She was given credit for 329 days served in the Marion County Jail. The sentence will be served concurrently with two Clinton County felony cases for possession of under five grams of meth and a petition to revoke probation on a prior possession of meth conviction.

A 23-year-old Centralia man has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to a felony theft charge. Johnny Skurat of South Pine was also ordered to complete one year parole and given credit for 121 days already served in the Marion County Jail. He admitted to taking $50 from the Casey’s General Store. The charge was a felony because of a past conviction. The time will run concurrently with a Washington County burglary conviction and Clinton County felony retail theft case. Another theft charge and a possession of stolen property charge in Marion County were dropped as part of the plea agreement.
