Clinton and Wayne County COVID-19 related deaths reported; 36 new cases in Marion County

Illinois Department of Public Health officials have announced new COVID-19 related deaths in Clinton, Wayne, and Effingham Counties.  The department reports a female in her 90s has died in Clinton County, a male in his 80s in Wayne County, and a male in his 70s in Effingham County.

The Marion County Health Department is reporting 36 new cases of COVID-19.  None are long term care facility residents.  Two are school age and the health department is doing contact tracing.   13 of the new cases are believed to be community spread and 23 are household or close contacts.

There are now 240 active cases, including 21 in the hospital of which two are on ventilators.  There were 40 who were released from isolation on Tuesday.  That brings the number of recovered to 1,063.

The positive cases range in age from one boy under two years of age, two teens, to a male and female in their 80s.  All are on isolation.

The Clinton County Health Department is reporting 79 new positive cases.  There are now 410 on home isolation and 12 who are hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting 34 new positive cases ranging in age from one teen to four in their 80s.  There are 239 active cases currently in isolation.

The Fayette County Health Department reported nine new positive cases.  There are now 181 active confirmed cases and 86 active probables.

The Wayne County Health Department reported ten additional positive cases on Tuesday ranging in age from a female child, two teens to two females in their 70s.  There are 132 currently isolating at home and two who are hospitalized.
