Marion County Sheriff’s Department releases more information on man struck by train

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department says a 28-year-old Wayne City man apparently struck and knocked off the Canadian National railroad tracks in Romine Township in extreme southeast Marion County was with a group videotaping the train.

The name of the man who was struck has been identified as Ean Ehrhart.   Sheriff’s Department reports indicate he was knocked down an embankment when apparently being clipped by the train while next to the tracks.  He was found unconscious following the incident that was reported by both the train crew and Ehrhart’s friends.

Ehrhart was initially taken by United Medical Response ambulance to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital and later airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital for treatment.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident along with the Canadian National Railroad Police.
