Randy Borger, age 73 of Salem, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2020, at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. Randy graduated from Carbondale Community High School and Southern Illinois University. He taught business subjects at Centralia High School for five years. He worked as a sales representative for Pitney Bowes for 15 years. He retired as a regional sales representative for Americana Building Products after working there for 16 years. After retiring, Randy worked as a part time custodian at Rome Grade School. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Salem. Randy had a great sense of humor. He was also known for his witty sayings. Next to his wife, one of his great loves was his Ford Mustang which he kept spotlessly clean. He was also an avid Cardinals baseball fan. He enjoyed several music genres especially blues and rock and roll.
As per Randy’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Graveside services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the Salem First Christian Church and can be left at the Crouse Funeral Home who is assisting the family with arrangements. Randy was born on May 11, 1947, in Carbondale, IL the son of Raymond and Maxine (Wetzel) Borger- Davis. He married Susan Dovin on February 27, 1970, in Carbondale and she survives in Salem. Survivors include his wife; children, Craig Borger and wife Lori of Phoenix, AZ, Eric Borger of Mt Vernon, and Mallory Crouse and husband Rich of Salem; grandchildren, Lydia and Izaiah Borger of Mt. Vernon and Weston and Nolan Crouse of Salem; sister, Jeanie Fields and husband Brian of Phoenix, AZ; nieces, Tara Borger of Lapeer, MI and Kelly Cain and husband Andy of Indianapolis, IN; and nephew, Jared Goodman and wife Danielle of Mt. Pleasant, SC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Larry Borger and wife Gloria, and a nephew Kirk Borger.
