Two charged with new felony offenses in Marion County Court

The Marion County State’s Attorney’s office has charged two men with felony possession of methamphetamine.

John Pope of West Second in Beckemeyer was arrested by Centralia Police in possession of about a third of a gram of meth after an officer allegedly saw a hand to hand drug transaction near the Walmart Store.   Police say they also recovered a syringe.  Bond for Pope was set at $10,000 during his first appearance in court.

A 33-year-old Wamac man was charged with possession of meth after Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies allegedly meth in his possession following a traffic stop on U.S. 51 near Brink Road in rural Sandoval.  Bond for Timothy Burton of West 16th was set at $5,000.

The public defender was appointed to represent both men.
