Allen Hixenbaugh, 78, of Centralia passed away Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at his home in Centralia. Mr. Hixenbaugh was a man that knew the value of working hard to provide for his family. He was a faithful employee for John Maroon Construction and a member of the Laborers Union 520. He also worked as a backhoe operator for Hanks Construction Company. Allen was last employed at Swan in Centralia. He truly loved the outdoors and mowing his lawn brought him great happiness. Allen was an animal lover and shared a special bond with his dog Max. He had a mechanical mind and spent many enjoyable hours tinkering in his shop. He was a whizz at crossword and word search puzzles and loved the satisfaction of completing a challenging puzzle. Allen liked to search for treasures, collecting belt buckles, marbles, coins, and hens in a nest. He was a caring grandfather and loved to be a part of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives. Allen was an honest man of integrity and held his family as his top priority. He lived a life his family and friends were so proud of and are honored to carry on.

Friends and Family are invited to visiting hours from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at Grace Church in Centralia with Clayton Pruett officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. He married the love of his life Verna Perkins and she survives in Centralia. Along with his beloved wife, Verna Hixenbaugh, survivors include his children, Deitra (Hixenbaugh) Bahrns of Pendleton, OR, Jeannie (Hixenbaugh) Jones and husband Rick of Walnut Hill, and Juanita Barrow Zimmerman; grandchildren, Kyle Shook, Amber (Shook) Hankins, Whitney and Britney Bahrns, Jeff Murphy, Fayanne Barrow, Amy Mashburn Green and husband Richard, Clayton Pruett and wife Tiffany, Austin Pruett, Keith Jones and wife Abbey, Elizabeth Lutz and husband Mike, Christanna Brown and husband Greg; great-grandchildren, Adam Shook, Kailee and Colton Hankins, Andrew , Janal and Brenna Murphy, Jory, Chance and Garrett Barrow, Teon Jones, Tramain Mashburn and wife Tina, Malik and Charles Wilson, Chloe, Vance & Ellie Pruett, Gauge & Boedi Jones, and Jayleigh and Jacelynn Brown; great-great-grandchildren Maddox Bausley, Darrius Gaters, Tristan Gaters, and Leia Mashburn; siblings, Donald, Ronnie, David, Roy, Larry, Butch, Jerry, Gary, Mark and Lonnie Hixenbaugh, Linda Caalim, and Brenda Hixenbaugh; and daughter-in-law, Debbie Barrow.

He was born on September 13, 1942, the son of Raymond and Alma (Friend) Hixenbaugh in Okawville. Mr. Hixenbaugh was preceded in death by both his parents Raymond and Alma (Friend) Hixenbaugh; bonus parents, Jess and Evalyn Peack; brothers, Noah, Jimmy, Johnny, Raymond, and Bill Hixenbaugh; children, Jamie Wagoner Spenner, James Buddy Barrow, and Jody Perkins Mashburn.
