After dropping both games to open their Covid Tournament in Olney, the Salem 9u bounced back to win both games Sunday to take home the championship.
In the title game, Salem beat the Illiana Aces 12-1. Tanner Purintun homered and drove in 2 on the day. Jacob Butts added 3 RBI while Emit Gibson drove in a run as well as Ben Lux who drove in 2. Dakota Gregg was the winning pitcher going 3.1 innings allowing 1 hit and struck-out 8.
Salem opened Sunday with a 9-1 win over Britton’s Bullpen. Gibson homered as part of his 3-3 day and drove in 2, Lux had 3 RBI. Gibson went 3 innings on the mound and allowing 1 hit and 0 runs with 6 strikeouts in the win.
On Saturday, Salem opened with a 12-6 loss to Britton’s. EJ Wolfe drove in a run in that game for Salem. They also fell to Illiana 10-8. Dakota Gregg had 3 RBI and Vince Krajefska added 2.
