Wayne Eugene Shanafelt, age 83, of Granite City, IL, formerly of Kinmundy, IL, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at his home. On March 30, 1957, Wayne married Barbara Louise Doolen, the love of his life in Kinmundy, IL. Wayne retired as store manager from Napa Auto Parts Store in Farina, IL, after many years of dedicated service. He was a member of Alma United Methodist Church in Alma, IL. Wayne enjoyed going to church and helping with the annual apple butter cook out at the church. However, his passion was fishing. Wayne was a skilled fisherman who enjoyed catching, cleaning, cooking and giving away the cooked fish to his family and friends. He never met a stranger and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Wayne loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Private family graveside services will be held at a later date at Doolen Cemetery in Kinmundy, IL. Memorial donations may be given to Doolen Cemetery or to Alma United Methodist Church.
