Illinois set another record for the third day in a row for one day number of COVID-19 cases on Saturday, with 7,889 reported along with 46 new deaths.  The Saturday total breaks the old record set on Friday of 6,943 cases and the Thursday record of 6,363 cases.

The deaths recorded on Saturday include a female in her 90s in Wayne County.  The death is the 19th in Wayne County.   The report also includes two Marion County deaths reportedly locally by the health department on Friday of a male and female in their 70s.

The Wayne County Health Department also reported seven new cases on Saturday including two teens and four in their 60s.  104 are currently in isolation after testing positive and one is hospitalized.

The state’s seven-day positivity rate continues to go up as well and is now at 7.5-percent for the past seven days.  That’s the highest it has been since May 29th.

The Southern Illinois positivity rate for the seven days ending on October 28th jumped to 10.1-percent on Saturday, an increase of four-tenths of a percent.  Marion County’s rate has jumped nearly two percent to 11-percent.   The positivity rate in the Metro East Region remained at 8.7-percent for the second day in a row.   The East Central Illinois Region is now at 9-percent positivity, up four-tenths of a percent from Friday.
