Four people were taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of what were believed to be minor injuries following a two-vehicle crash on West Main Street between the Selmaville and Hoots Chapel Roads.

Salem Police say a van driven by 31-year-old Chelsie Howe of Hickory Grove Lane in Salem was traveling eastbound on Main when she made a left hand turn into a driveway and was hit in the side by an oncoming westbound vehicle on Main Street driven by 29-year-old Gary Deadmond II of Pecan Court in Mt. Vernon.

Howe and one of three children in her van, a seven-year-old male juvenile, were taken to the hospital for treatment along with Deadmond and a passenger in his SUV, 26-year-old Randy ‘Travis’ Hill of Maple Street in Centralia.

Salem Fire Protection District was called to the scene, but they report everyone in the vehicles were able to get out on their own.

The crash occurred at three pm.  Traffic had to be diverted off  US 50/West Main by Marion County ESDA until the wreckage could be cleared.
