Bonnadean Reimer, age 87, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 2:45 am on October 29, 2020, at Mount Vernon Health Care Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
Bonnadean had many professions during her life. After high school, she became a beautician which allowed her to support her family and work from her home. She married Dr. Kenneth Clark in 1966 and managed his optometry office for several years. In 1970 Bonnadean and her son, Tom opened Carl’s for Men which later became Carl’s for Men and Women in 1982 when her daughter, Kathleen joined the family business. Bonnadean worked at Carl’s on and off her entire life. She started a Real Estate office and obtained her brokers license in the 70’s. Later in life, she resided in Florida and managed the Hilton Gift Shop in Marco Island for several years. She loved helping her son and granddaughter, Michelle in the kitchen at Green Hills Golf Club, Thursday cooks night out were known for Bonnadean’s meatloaf. In 1980 she and several friends started a gourmet club which eventually led to publishing a cookbook, “Theme Gourmet”, it was one of her proudest accomplishments. Bonnadean’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Her motto was “If you cook they will come” and everyone did! Her skills in the kitchen were amazing. Every celebration with mom was spectacular! Bonnadean was a Christian and she loved Saint Mary’s Catholic Church where she was a member.
A Funeral Mass will be held at a later date. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Memorials may be made in Bonnadean’s honor to Saint Mary Catholic School. She was born January 17, 1933, in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Webster and Anna Marie (Wetzer) Hill. Bonnadean married Arthur “Art” Eugene Reimer on September 17, 1994, in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were blessed with nearly nineteen years of marriage before he preceded her in death on March 23, 2013.
Bonnadean is survived by her sons, Tom Williams and wife, Karen of Mount Vernon, Illinois, Donnie Williams and wife, JoAnn of Saint Louis, Missouri, Kenny Clark and wife, Melinda of Parma, Missouri; daughter, Kathleen Shoemaker and husband, Ron of Mount Vernon, Illinois; grandchildren, Michelle Ashby and husband, Chris, Amie King and husband, Keith, Melinda Williams, Courtney Williams Hoff and husband, Mike, Jordan Shoemaker and special friend, Tori Green, Lexie Witges and husband, Skyler, Faith Shoemaker and fiance, Joel Duncan, Nicholas Clark; and great-grandchildren, Colleen Ashby, Andrew Ashby, Harper Shoemaker, Samantha Mason, Henry Mason, Linus Hoff, Liam Hoff, and Brooks David Witges.
In addition to her parents and husband, Bonnadean is preceded in death by her son, Eddie Edward Williams and sister, JoAnn Hill.
