DES PLAINES, Ill. (AP) — Lawyers say that a suburban Chicago police officer’s failure to turn on his body camera until after he shot two Black people last week suggests the officer wanted to hide what really happened.
The comments by attorneys representing Tafara Williams came the same day that Waukegan released videos that show events leading up to and shortly after the shooting that left Williams injured and killed Marcellis Stinnette.
City officials have said the officer was fired in large part because his failure to turn on his body camera before the shooting was a violation of department policy.
