A 47-year-old Kell man is being held in the Marion County Jail for possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card after holding sheriff’s deputies at bay outside his home late Friday afternoon. James Hefner had allegedly made threats and was known to have weapons in the home, but eventually was taken into custody without incident.
35-year-old Marcus Carter of St. Louis turned himself in at the Marion County Jail on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant on a pending domestic battery charge. He posted a $500 cash bond and was released.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department received a complaint from the owner of Fast Stop and the adjoining storage units in the 400 block of Clinton Avenue in Patoka that five of the storage units had been broken into. The burglaries occurred sometime since Sunday. The case was reassigned to Patoka Police for investigation.
