Marion and Clinton County report new COVID-19 deaths

The Marion County Health Department is saddened to report the death of two more long term care residents who were positive for COVID-19.    Those who passed away are females in their 80s and 90s.  Marion County has now had 19 COVID related deaths.

The Health Department also reported 43 new cases ranging in age from a boy under three years of age and a girl under 6 years of age to a female in her 100s.  All are on isolation.   Of the 43 new cases, one is of school age and contact tracing is underway, 28 are long-term care residents from the same facility, 30 are community spread and 13 are household or close contacts.

Marion County now has 204 active cases, including seven in the hospital and two of those who are on ventilators.  No additional positive cases were released from isolation on Friday.  A total of 715 have recovered.

The Clinton County Health Department has also reported another COVID-19 related death.  It is a male in his 90s who did not live at home.  The death is the 26th in the county.  21 new positive cases were reported.  231 are now isolated and 14 are hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Health Department has eight new positive cases ranging in age from a male under 13 to a male in his 60s.  There are now 98 active cases in isolation.

Washington County has had 12 new positive cases in the past two days ranging in age from a female between 11 and 15 and a female in her 70s.  There are 29 active cases in Washington County and two who are hospitalized.

Fayette County Health Department is reporting nine new confirmed cases and 85 cases that are now active.  Four of the confirmed cases are from a congregate care facility.

Wayne County is reporting two new positive cases in a female in her 20s and a male in his 60s.  There are currently 85 active cases and four who are hospitalized.

Statewide, 3,874 new cases were reported on Friday along with 31 additional deaths.
