Centralia Fire Chief lifts burn ban

Centralia Fire Chief John Lynch has announced the lifting of the city’s burn ban as a result of the Sunday and Monday rain.

However, Lynch is reminding all city residents there are still restrictions on when you can burn in Centralia.

Open burning of landscape waste is only permitted on each weekend in October and November, except for the weekend when the annual Halloween parade is scheduled. Burning will be permitted from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday only.

Lynch says please be very cautious as vegetation has died off and leaves have accumulated around buildings and in gutters. The threat of spreading fire is still a concern.

Lynch says you should have a hose ready to extinguish fires. Please keep fires small and manageable. Never leave a fire unattended and make sure it is supervised by an adult.
You may have a recreational fire in an approved burn container with a spark arrestor lid. NO recreational fire is allowed between midnight and 6:00 a.m.

Lynch says no fires are allowed during periods of wind. Please listen for further updates on burn bans.

Again you may not burn Monday through Friday. Please also remember cannot burn garbage, trash, refuse, lumber, building materials, or tires.
