Crop harvesting in progressing quickly in Illinois.
Another week of very little rain gave producers plenty of time in the fields says Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener.
“Illinois farmers have now harvest 66% of corn acres. That compares to 32% one year ago and 65% for the five year average. The condition of the crop was rated 7% very poor to poor, 28% fair and 65% good to excellent.”
81% of soybeans have been harvested…well ahead of the five year average of 66%. 73% of winter wheat has been planted and 25% has emerged. Before the Sunday and Monday rain, average statewide topsoil moisture had declined to 22% very short, 34% short, 43% adequate and 1% surplus.
