The SI 14u Bandits won the Woodlawn Tournament over the weekend beating the Nashville Swarm in the championship 12-5. Salem’s Breanna Thurman was the winning pitcher going all 6 innings allowing just 5 hits and 5 runs with 6 strikeouts and only 1 walk. At the plate, Thurman went 2-3 with an RBI while Salem’s Emma Gregg also added a hit and drove in a run.
The Bandits won their semifinal game on Sunday over the Effingham Intensity 4-3. Emma Gregg tripled and drove in 2 runs including the go ahead run. Thurman was the winning pitcher again going all 6 innings allowing 4 hits and 2 earned runs.
The tournament began on Saturday with a pair of wins for the Bandits. They opened with an 8-4 win over the SI Freedom. Gregg singled and Thurman was the winning pitcher striking out 11 in 6 innings with 1 earned run allowed and 4 hits. They defeated the Nashville Swarm AJ 14-9 as well. Thurman was 3-3 with 3 RBI, Gregg scored a pair of runs and drove in another. Thurman was once again the winning pitcher going 6 innings allowing 9 hits, 4 earned runs with 6 strikeouts.
