Illinois Department of Public Health reporting three COVID-19 deaths in region

The Illinois Department of Public Health is reporting three more COVID-19 deaths on Saturday.  They include a male in his 50s in Marion County, a male in his 70s in Clinton County, and a male in his 80s in Jefferson County.   In all, there were 27 additional deaths reported statewide on Saturday.  Other deaths in Southern Illinois included one in Cumberland County and one in St. Clair County.

There were also 3,629 new COVID-19 cases reported statewide and 77,000 test results being completed.   The positivity rate is up another tenth of a percent to 5.2-percent for the past seven days.

The Southern Illinois Region seven day positivity rate for the seven day period ending October 14th has jumped seven-tenths of a percent to 8.5-percent.  The Marion County rate dipped to 5.6-percent for the same time period.  The Metro East Region remains at an even seven percent.   The East Central Illinois Region has risen two-tenths of a percent to 7.6-percent.
