The Marion County Health Department has reported its 13th death from the coronavirus disease on Friday. A male in his 70s passed away at a hospital. He was not a long term care resident.
The health department also reported 17 new positive cases. Nine are considered community spread and eight from household or close contacts. They range in age from a girl under 13 to three females in their 60s. All are on isolation. There are now 174 active cases, including 13 in the hospital. Another seven recovered on Friday and were released bringing the total number who have recovered to 627. The school-age child was not at school during her infectious period.
There were also deaths reported in Jefferson, Fayette, Clay and Wayne Counties. The Jefferson County Health Department reported a male in his 60s had passed away bringing their number of deaths to 41. The Fayette County Health Department reported the death of a male in his 80s who was not a resident of a congregate-care facility. The Department of Public Health reported two deaths in Clay County, a female in her 50s and a female in her 80s. The deaths were the tenth and 11th in the county. The state also reported another death in Wayne County, a man in his 90s. The death is the 11th in the county.
The Clinton County Health Department had 30 new positive cases. There are 174 on home isolation and 10 who are hospitalized. The Clinton County Health Department has announced there will be free COVID-19 testing on Saturday and Sunday from eight to four at the Clinton County Fairgrounds in Carlyle. You must have a working phone to get the results.
Jefferson County reported five now positive cases on Friday, ranging in age from 20s to 40s. 109 remain in isolation.
Washington County had seven new confirmed cases ranging in age from a male between 16 and 19 to two males in their 60s. 22 of the cases remain active and three are hospitalized.
Fayette County had 12 new cases, including one in congregate care. There are 123 active cases.
The Wayne County Health Department is reporting 14 new cases ranging from three male teens to a male in his 90s. They currently have 104 isolating at home and five hospitalized.
