The Illinois Department of Aging has awarded the Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency a 2020 Governor’s Engaging Aging Award. The award recognizes groups and organizations who lead by example and have gone above and beyond to make a positive impact in the lives of older Illinoisans in the past year.
The agency was nominated by the Midland Area Agency on Aging which serves Jefferson County. Midland notes the Jefferson County EMA are the first ones to offer to assist in any way they can. They note all they have to do is send an email and they will respond immediately. The nomination says whether it is a webinar, a training, local meeting, water shortage, or extreme weather warning, the group is one of a kind and well-deserving of recognition.
Jefferson County EMA Coordinator Steve Lueker and his team were honored during a virtual symposium with over 600 attendees on Thursday where a number of special contributions to older Americans were honored.
