Two Mt. Vernon residents were injured when their car collided with a semi on Illinois Route 148 near Emerson City Road in Jefferson County just before noon on Thursday.
State Police say a preliminary investigation indicates the car driven by 29-year-old Jillianne Snyder of Mt. Vernon was traveling southbound on Route 148 when it crossed the center line and struck an approaching semi driven by 66-year-old Terry Zewiski of Ashley head-on.
Snyder and a four-year-old male juvenile passenger were transported to a local area hospital. State Police list the juvenile’s injuries as life-threatening.
Zewiski was not hurt.
All lanes of Route 148 were shut down for about two hours during the traffic crash investigation.
